Roald Dahl Inspiration
Roald Dahl Day lands and grabs pupils' attention!
Well, end of the first full week is upon us and it culminated in a Roald Dahl-inspired day where children got to bring in their own Dahl books to share and read, Good Work assembly provided a video-extract from Wonka and some of the activities across the day provided opportunities for the children to create their own marvellous medicines and witches' potions. The author would have been 109 years old today.
The children have been enthusiastic across the week and staff have been reporting how impressed they are with many different areas of work accomplished by the children. The week of inspirational Maths engaged the classes and deepened their understanding of key number facts and reasoning. The efforts of many children were recognised by being selected for the mention and trophy today in Good Work assembly. I hope the children keep this level of effort up and continue to want to do their best each day.
It was great to see the new Reception class (Caterpillars) join us for assembly today for the first time. I have no doubt the staff will continue to practise how the pupils enter and leave in nice straight lines. It was not bad for a first attempt though.
Next week, I will be popping into classes to see how teachers are getting on in their various lessons and ensuring the pupils are engaging with their learning appropriately.
Have a restful weekend everyone!
