Macmillan Cake Fundraiser!

It has been a truly glorious week and it culminated in our Macmillan Cake sale in order to raise as much money as possible for a great cause. Thank you for all the donations of cakes to sell and for all the generous donations. Thank you also to the PTFA helpers for manning the stall with staff and for preparing their own cakes to sell alongside the others. The scones were a personal taste triumph. 

We have been fortunate enough to secure a new parent Governor, in Dr. Byron Shulver. Dr. Shulver is a parent of both an Infant and Junior child so both schools will be well represented on the board. I have every faith he will strengthen our Governing Body and share his broad expertise with the school to improve it further. We all look forward to working with him. 

I have been really fortunate this week in being able to go into classes to observe the teaching quality, particularly looking at adaptive teaching strategies in how we make learning accessible to all and how we push learners to deepen their knowledge. I have not quite managed to get around to everyone just yet, but what I have seen so far I am pleased. 

Do not forget we have the Travelling Book Fair at Junior school, so go and have a look through the books on offer to see if there are titles of interest to you.

We had Norfolk Library Service visit to share the certificates and badges for those pupils who completed their Summer Reading Challenge of reading six books over the holidays. As you can see from the earlier photos, there were several children who took part. Well done to them.  

Next week, we have National Poetry Day on Thursday 1st October, so I have encouraged staff to get the pupils involved in writing their own versions with the theme of Wonder.
