Planting Galore!
Planting Day across the Federation for all!
Welcome back to the final half-term of this academic year. Hopefully, the Summer weather will be worthy of enjoying. It certainly was not evident when we needed it to be dry for our Planting Day across the two schools. Here, children came in non-uniform in exchange for a bedding plant, which they popped into the ground somewhere around the school site in order to firstly improve the aesthetics and secondly to provide a fabulous source of pollen and nectar for honey bees and other wildlife. I am sure with the required weather, respect from all on the site and the right gardener's nurturing touch, all our plants will thrive and blossom further. Thank you to all parents for the donations.
Children have been working hard this week on a variety of different things. Year 2 had the delights of going off to Fairhaven to learn more about plants, wildlife and learnt about the aquatic birds during an exhilarating boat ride. They then used this to write their own recount of the day, some extending their writing to four or five pages. Thank you to the staff and Year 1 have been learning about Queen Elizabeth I and II and doing a historic comparison of the two powerful monarchs. At the same time, Reception, have been learning about sunflowers and attempting to grow their own keeping a record of the changes in their sunflower diaries. They really are a happy bunch.
Next week, we have our open evening presentation for our new Reception parents on Wednesday at 5pm and our Year 1 and some Year 2 children doing a re-take will be completing the Phonics Screening Check. Please continue to get some practice words
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
